Competitive intelligence should live where your team already works. That’s why we’ve made it possible to access Klue data in Slack, Teams, and more.

Today, we’re adding ChatGPT to that list.

With Klue’s Content API, your team can now access all their published Klue cards without ever leaving ChatGPT.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to set it up in five simple steps.

Why Connect Klue to ChatGPT?

In 2025, there’s a strong chance your team is already using ChatGPT for quick answers throughout their day. But when it comes to competitive intelligence, you need those answers to come from your verified source of truth, not the open web.

By connecting Klue to ChatGPT, you get:

  • All your published Klue cards in ChatGPT – Battlecards, win stories, and more are all accessible through simple conversation
  • Answers that cite back to source material – Every response links to specific Cards in Klue so users can dive deeper
  • Instant access for everyone – PMMs can build battlecards faster, CI teams can analyze patterns, and sellers can get answers mid-call
  • Seamless workflow integration – No context switching or new tools to learn – just verified intel flowing into the ChatGPT conversations your team is already having

Perfect for teams who’ve already adopted ChatGPT but need it connected to their competitive source of truth. Think of it as giving ChatGPT a direct line to your verified intel – available exactly when and where your team needs it.

The 5-Minute Setup Process

Ready to connect your Klue content to ChatGPT? Let’s walk through it step by step.

Note: You’ll need ChatGPT Plus/Team/Enterprise and Admin access to Klue to complete this setup.

Step 1: Generate Your Klue API Key

First, you’ll need an API key to let ChatGPT access your Klue content:

  1. Log into Klue as an Admin and navigate to Apps & Integrations
  2. Find the Content API section
  3. Click Manage API Keys
  4. Click Create New API Key
  5. Name it something clear like “ChatGPT Integration”
  6. Set your expiration (we recommend 1 year for production use)
  7. Copy your new API key and store it securely

📌 Pro Tip: Treat this key like a password. It’s what allows ChatGPT to access your published Klue Cards and battlecards.

Step 2: Create Your Custom GPT

Now let’s set up your custom GPT in ChatGPT:

  1. Head to https://chatgpt.com/gpts and click Create a GPT
  2. Give it a clear name like “[Your Company] Competitive Intel”
  3. Add a description that indicates it connects to Klue
  4. Skip the conversation starters for now (we’ll come back to these)

Step 3: Configure the Connection

This is where you connect ChatGPT to Klue:

  1. In your GPT builder, click Configure > Actions
  2. Under Authentication, select API Key and choose Bearer as an Auth type
  3. Paste your Klue API key from Step 1
  4. For the Schema, go back to Klue’s Content API documentation (or in Apps & Integrations > Content API > “How to use”)
  5. Scroll down and copy the entire OpenAI spec that Klue provides
  6. Paste it into the Schema field in ChatGPT

That’s it – your GPT is now connected to your Klue database and can access all your published Cards.

Step 4: Add Custom Instructions

Custom instructions guide ChatGPT on how to use your Klue content in the most effective way.

We’ve prepared a ready-to-use set you can copy and paste into ChatGPT – [find them here].

Step 5: Create Conversation Starters

Conversation starters guide your team toward the most valuable questions:

  • “How do we compare against [Top Competitor]?”
  • “Show me our pricing advantages”
  • “What are [Competitor]’s main weaknesses?”
  • “Help me handle objections about [specific feature]”

These prompts show sellers what’s possible and help them learn effective prompting techniques.

Testing Your Connection

Time to see it in action.

Try asking: “How do we compare against [Competitor]?”

Your ChatGPT should:

  • Search your Klue Cards for relevant content
  • Pull key differentiation points from your battlecards, win stories, and competitor profiles
  • Provide citations with links back to the specific Cards in Klue
  • Format the response based on your custom instructions

When you click on a source link, it should open the exact Card in Klue where that information lives.

If responses aren’t pulling from Klue or citations aren’t working, double-check your API key and schema configuration.

Advanced Configuration Tips

Tune Your Responses by Role

Add instructions that customize responses based on who’s asking:

  • For sellers: Focus on talk tracks and email templates
  • For product marketers: Emphasize messaging frameworks and competitive positioning
  • For CI teams: Prioritize pattern analysis and market intelligence
  • For product managers: Highlight feature comparisons and roadmap implications

Control Your Content Sources

In ChatGPT’s settings, you can:

  • Disable web browsing to ensure responses only use Klue content (no contamination from public sources)
  • Enable web browsing to supplement Klue data with current market info
  • Prioritize specific content types through your instructions (e.g., Win Stories over general battlecards)

Set Output Guidelines

Define how you want responses formatted in your custom instructions:

  • Bullet points vs. paragraphs
  • Length constraints
  • Tone and voice matching your brand
  • When to generate new content vs. quoting directly from Cards

What Else Can You Do?

While we’ve focused on ChatGPT, Klue’s Content API works with any AI tool that accepts custom APIs – Microsoft Copilot, Glean, or your custom enterprise LLM. The same API key and OpenAI spec work across platforms.

You can also use the API to filter and retrieve specific Cards based on competitors, battlecards, tags, or date ranges. Check out the full Content API documentation in Klue for advanced filtering options.

The Bottom Line

If your team already spends hours a day in ChatGPT, connecting Klue is a no-brainer. In minutes, you can put verified battlecards, competitor profiles, and win stories right where the questions are happening. No extra logins, no switching tabs – just accurate, cited intel in the flow of work.
